All members of FESH agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

I shall not carry out any act, performance, publicity stunt or experiment which is likely to bring hypnosis into disrepute or attract adverse publicity.

I shall make the safety of the volunteers and audience of paramount importance in my act. If circumstances make it inappropriate or impossible to perform a particular routine safely, I shall not perform that routine, even if this means cancelling the entire performance.

I shall not include in any public performance, presentation or exhibition:
Any attempt to regress a subject to an earlier part of their life.

The deliberate giving of suggestions that a subject should perform any act or behave in any manner which is likely to be thought indecent or offensive, having regard for the venue and the prior promotion of the performance, presentation or exhibition.

I shall make it clear to the audience that participation in the presentation is entirely voluntary at every stage.

I shall only use psychological techniques of induction of the hypnotic state. Specifically, I shall not use any physical, ‘shock’ or pressure point methods to induce hypnosis.

In my advertising material and in my public statements I shall not assert or imply that hypnotism is other than a psychological technique.

I shall ensure that all hypnotic and post-hypnotic suggestions are removed completely before any subject leaves the room in which the performance takes place.

In any public performance of hypnosis I shall inform the audience that no one below the age of 18 must volunteer.

I undertake to accept and be bound by any amendments made to this Code of Conduct provided they have been made in accordance with the Constitution of the Federation of Ethical Stage Hypnotists.
